I hear it everyday in one form or another: people are frightened because they think the world is coming apart.
But hey – we’re looking at the possibility of a US presidential candidate getting elected who has no experience as a politician, no military experience, no public service record (indeed, Trump has a record of shafting others rather than serving them), an explosive temper, thin skin, a set agenda of hate mongering, marginalization and divisiveness all mixed in with a level of self-aggrandizing monomania that hasn’t been seen on the public stage since Hitler.
Given this and the fact that whoever is elected in November will be facing one of the most unpredictable, potentially explosive global political atmospheres ever … no wonder people are afraid!
And yet fear is the main reason so many millions of people are embracing Trump as the answer. He’s the ultimate Big Daddy—the epitome of the Old Guard Masculine: the poster child for those who still believe Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child, who hold the Authoritarian Father Figure dear. He is the last Great White Hope of those who pray for an external savior to deliver them from the paralysis of their own ignorance, fear and self-imposed misery.
And yet living under the whip hand of a Far-From-All Knowing Authoritative Male is hardly the answer we seek. It is, in fact, the very thing our world’s populations are struggling to get out from under. The day of the King as sole ruler is done. The time when the world can evolve through brute strength, walls, manipulation, willpower, linear black & white thinking and logic, exploitation and iron-fisted control is over.
The reason the world looks like it’s coming apart at the seams is because humanity is growing up. We no longer fit into the old suit and shoes. We’re bursting to change! Our limitations are dissolving! We know so much! Psychology, quantum physics and neurobiology hold out the vision of vast unknown potentials within us. We can’t hold back the tide of evolution any longer!
Is this scary? Sure! But it’s also incredibly exciting. And excitement is just a tiny energetic shift in the feeling and experience of fear. Knowledge of what’s happening to us—why so many bloody outbursts of violence are occurring, why there’s so much confusion and confrontation and anger, why so many corruptions and secrets are suddenly being exposed—is the key.
The house of cards is toppling. No longer can the masculine dominate. Now is the time when the balancing effect of the feminine—compassion, love, chaos, cooperation, emotion, and surrender to life’s processes—must come into effect. No wonder so many conservatives are taking a last stand to control women and their bodies once again!
Walls and rules, limits and control have been used for thousands of years to harness life forces and make the world’s resources yield to our domination. But the world’s resources can no longer be exploited any more than the feminine can be exploited. The world’s peoples can no longer be exploited for the benefit of the King and the King-makers.
Times they are a changing. And none too soon. So hold onto your hat. Take a deep breath. Seek a larger perspective. Embrace evolution. Try not to fear the unknown. Let go the past, face the future. And know that when the seams rip open, life is creating all the more room to breathe.
